And for this we are going to read “10 Easy Tips To Save Money On Your Home Heating Bills” through today’s post. Which will help us in reducing our heating bills.

10 Easy Tips To Save Money On Your Home Heating Bills :- With energy costs being greater than they have ever been in recent memory, it pays to research strategies to lower your home heating expenses. I have compiled a list of ideas that are simple, cost-effective, and will lower your home heating expenditures by a large amount! You also do not need to be Bob Villa. Some take just a minute or two. Even minor adjustments will yield substantial savings over the course of this winter.

Here are the 10 tips that I have personally used to save on my home heating costs :-

  1. Go to the basement and turn down the thermostat for your hot water by about 10 degrees. I wouldn’t go below 120-115 degrees. Most of the time, the adjustment dial is a red knob at the bottom of the water tank.
  2. While you’re downstairs, make sure your central air-heating unit has clean filters. If your filter is dirty and clogged, your unit will have to work much harder and stay on for longer to get fresh air past the clogged filter and heat the rest of your home.
  3. Make sure your air ducts don’t have any holes, leaks, or breaks. If your ductwork has any disconnects or leaks, your heating bills could be 25% higher than they should be if these gaps were sealed. If you can’t do it yourself, you should hire a pro. This person can also clean your ducts to make them work even better.
  4. Lower the temperature on your thermostat by a few degrees. I’m telling you, this all adds up. You might not think it makes much of a difference, but when you get a lower bill every month, you will!
  5. While we’re talking about thermostats, think about getting a new one if yours can’t be set to a certain time. The reason is that you can set the thermostat so that your house is cooler at night than when you are awake during the day. Also, if you are at work during the day, you can set it to a lower temperature and have it start heating the house a little bit before you get home. These don’t cost too much and are easy to set up and install on your own.
  6. Put insulation in the attic. Doesn’t heat rise? If your attic isn’t properly insulated, all of the heat in your house (and your money) will go right through the roof. Literally! This will take some work on your part, but it will save you a lot of money over time if you do it. Find out how big your attic is in square feet and buy rolls of insulation that are more than R-13 but not more than R-30. When you work with insulation, you should wear a mask and gloves because it can irritate the skin.
  7. Look for cracks and leaks! If you added up all the small cracks and holes in your house, you might get a small window that is wide open and lets cold air in and hot air out. Take the time to look for holes in your windows, doors, pipes, electrical and phone lines, dryer vent, and other places. Put weather-strips around your doors and windows. You can buy insulation foam in a can with a straw that lets you fill in small spaces. It gets bigger until even the smallest cracks are filled. Finding and filling these holes all over the house was the most fun thing to do.
  8. Close the vents in the rooms you’re not using. One room in my house is not being used right now. To stop energy from escaping, I closed the hot air vents and made sure the windows and doors were properly sealed. Why spend money heating up space in your house that you don’t even use?
  9. During the day, open the blinds and curtains on all of your windows to let the sun heat your home. Pull them back down at night to make the room warmer. It’s amazing how much direct sunlight heating up your home helps.
  10. Your fireplace can help or hurt how much it costs to heat your home. Make sure the damper is closed when you’re not using the fireplace. Check the damper after it is closed to see if cold air is still getting in. If you want to use your fireplace, turn down or turn off the heat in the rest of the house.
