This year’s Puppy Bowl features 122 rescue dogs
Yes, it’s time for the 19th Puppy Bowl.
This year’s Puppy Bowl features 122 rescue dogs :- Animal Planet puts on the show every year, and it will air on Sunday afternoon before the big game. Here is all the information you need about the popular tournament.
How does this Game work ?
As with the Super Bowl, there will be two teams in the Puppy Bowl: Team Ruff (wearing orange bandanas) and Team Tuff (wearing blue). For the Chewy “Lombarky” trophy, the dog athletes will compete.
And don’t worry if you don’t know what the difference is between a touchdown and a field goal. The Puppy Bowl is a lot easier to understand than football. The dogs will try to get a ball into one of two end zones in a small football stadium filled with chew toys.

For the 12th year, Dan Schachner will be the game’s “ruff-eree,” and sportscasters Taylor Rooks and Steve Levy will give expert commentary on the dogs’ brave efforts. The water bowl cam and the Pedigree puppy kiss cam are two other favourite parts of the game.
The game helps rescue puppies find “furever” homes.
The game is not only cute and fun to play, but it also has a more important goal. Every dog athlete is a rescue dog, and some of them are still in a shelter or foster home waiting to be adopted. The competition brings attention to the puppies and the shelters that take care of them, which is very important.
“We really couldn’t ask for a better platform,” Chrissy Beckles, founder and president of The Sato Project, a non-profit that rescues abused and abandoned dogs in Puerto Rico and rehomes them on the US mainland, previously told us. “I can’t think of a single negative for this – only that it’s only once a year.”

Rescue groups work with the dogs for months to get them used to the bright lights and loud noises they will see and hear on set.
People who want to adopt can get in touch with the shelter through Animal Planet’s website. If you like a certain player, though, keep in mind that they may have already been taken. Since the Puppy Bowl is already filmed, some of the dogs have already found homes. But others still need places to live. Even if the dog you like has already been taken home, the shelter may be able to suggest another dog for you.
Animal Planet says that since the first Puppy Bowl in 2005, every puppy and kitten that has been on the show has found a home.
