Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) employees are moving forward with a potential strike as they seek higher wages and better working conditions.

The employees are represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and have been without a collective agreement since June 2016.

The PSAC is pushing for higher wages to reflect the rising cost of living and increased workload for CRA employees.

They are also seeking better working conditions, including addressing issues such as job security,

mental health support, and harassment and discrimination in the workplace.

The PSAC has stated that the CRA's current offer is inadequate and does not meet the needs of its members.

As a result, the union has applied for a strike mandate, which would allow its members to take strike action if necessary.

However, the CRA has argued that the PSAC's demands are unreasonable and not financially feasible.

The CRA has offered a wage increase of 1.5% per year, which they argue is in line with other public sector agreements.

The potential strike comes at a crucial time for the CRA, as it prepares for the upcoming tax season.

The PSAC has stated that it will not engage in any job action during the tax season,

but the uncertainty surrounding the negotiations could still cause disruptions.

The CRA has stated that it is committed to reaching a fair and reasonable agreement with its employees,

and better working conditions. It also raises questions about the balance between public sector employee demands and government financial constraints.
